A couple pictures of what we ate at our Aussie Thanksgiving. We went around to Randy and Yvette’s place to experience the best American holiday with a few Yanks, Aussies, and a Brit. Haj and Yvette cooked a turkey, roasted potatoes, mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes w/ marshmallows, some veggies and a new one - stuffed grape leaves. There were also a couple pies, tons of booze, and some hookah. We brought over green beans with candied walnuts in a balsamic honey vinaigrette, cheddar apple rice, cornbread stuffing w/ sausage, and an apple cake topped with a maple cream cheese frosting. Go Sophie.
New Thanksgiving tradition? After copious amounts of food and booze - go to a warehouse party with weird music. Felt like Bushwick.
Just a few snaps around Melbourne, and St Kilda. The weather is definitely starting to pick up around here. This summer is supposed to be pretty hot :-)
A few pics around St. Kilda. We walked to the end of the St Kilda pier and to our surprise there were wild penguins living along the rocks. Penguin neighbors
Luna Park - a small amusement park in St Kilda. We wanted to go on some of the rides, but Sophie was not tall enough. We can hear kids at Luna Park from our apartment on the weekends.
A few more photos from Wilsons Prom. We stopped in a camping ground to have a barbecue or a “barbie”. Chadi gave us two Aussie barbies over this weekend - we felt spoiled. With the amount of food he made, Chadi must have prepared for us his fatted calf, pig, chicken, and lamb. This guy is a grill-master (everything about him reminded me of Spencer less the meathead).
We see tropical looking birds like the one above all over the place, but it never gets old. Either Fionntan or Shane named this bird Charlie. Charlie also got spoiled at the barbecue with bread and meat thanks to these two Irish guys… don’t worry they did not feed him chicken.
Squeaky Beach in Wilsons Prom…sounds dirty, but it is beautiful. We hope to go back to this exact spot when the weather is a bit nicer.
Wilsons Promontory National Park in Victoria. In the pictures above we parked on the side of the road to try and see some wild life. Chadi knew a hot spot for kangaroo’s and emus. Wilsons Prom had kangaroos, emus, and one wombat (as Fionntan calls them, wee bears).
At Chadi’s place in Inverloch. Just a couple of gay cousins and their beard watching the sunset. By the way…. sunsets are nicer here.
Weekend visit to Inverloch and Smith’s Beach along the Bass Coast. Inverloch is a small beach town where Fionntan lives. Smith’s Beach is a destination on Phillip Island. As you can see, each place does not suck.
